John Colson, has been in the timber business since 1980 and has worked in all aspects of the business from selection, cutting, skidding, scaling, selling and transporting. His many years with dealing with the saw mill buyers has created long standing relationships that deliver the highest market prices for his clients cut logs.
John was a partner in another logging company for over twenty years and when the partner decided to scale down his work days and semi retire, John and his wife, Paulette decided to form Colson Timber Acquisitions in January,2007. Another decision was to move the operation further south from John's birth and hometown area of Petersburg, IL.
For years John had been traveling two hours one way to this area to meet the needs of the demand for timber. In November, 2007 a commercial property was purchased for a log yard location that was on a major highway and easily accessible for trucks to transport logs to the saw mills. The log yard is located 30 minutes north of St. Louis, Missouri on Hwy 267/111 in Medora, Illinois.
